HUNTINGTON BEACH — The MPSF Beach Volleyball Championship returns to Spiker Beach this week, bringing together some of the nation’s top collegiate programs for a three-day title chase along the coast.

The second-year tournament runs April 22–24 and features a seeded bracket headlined by Stanford, UCLA, USC and Texas. Stanford enters as the defending champion after winning the inaugural event in 2025.

Opening-round matches Wednesday largely followed the seeding. Stanford, the No. 1 seed, defeated Washington, while No. 2 UCLA advanced past LSU. USC and Texas also moved on with straight-set victories, setting up a tighter round of matchups heading into Thursday.

The schedule intensifies with several key duals, including Stanford against USC and UCLA against Texas. Early matches also include elimination contests featuring Oregon, Washington, San Jose State and LSU as teams work through the bracket.

The tournament uses the standard NCAA beach volleyball format, with five pairs from each team competing simultaneously across multiple courts. A team must win three of the five matches to advance, placing emphasis on lineup depth as well as top pairs.
